Chris Banks, RD, LDN is a registered, licensed dietitian having completed a bachelor's degree in nutrition and a year's dietetic internship to qualify for a national registration exam and is licensed in the profession by the state of Georgia.

Services Offered at North Georgia Medical Center and Gilmer Nursing Home include out-patient and in-patient nutrition counseling on conditions such as diabetes, renal, cardiac, general nutrition and weight reduction. Nutrition counseling is required for the hospital's lapband program.

The Registered Dietitian sees that the Dietary Department:

Serves nutritious, appealing meals to NGMC patients and GNH residents.
Assures proper diets are received as stipulated by the American Dietetic Associations' Nutrition Care Manual.
Operates within the safety and procedural guidelines of local, state and national regulations.
Conducts performance improvement studies to constantly seek way to improve services.
The RD instructs staff on various aspects of nutrition, and assesses and monitors nutrition status of all patients and residents.
